Profiling for optimized e-commerce

Askås can offer Profiling & Analysis – a ”check-up” of your e-commerce. The check-up and the incoming analysis provide clear indications regarding speed and performance and can be used as a basis for optimizations and actions.

What's included in the check-up?

CACHE. We check if relevant file formats and static content are cached correctly.

CSS AND JAVASCRIPT. We investigate if CSS and JavaScript files are correctly combined to reduce the number of server requests and improve loading times.

IMAGES. We check that best practices for image resources are used and we focus on several aspects of the website's performance and user experience based on Core Web Vitals.

RENDERING. We measure rendering and performance from several different aspects for commonly used views such as home page, category page, product page, and checkout.

TIME TO FIRST BYTE. We check that Time to first byte does not exceed the approved threshold (800 ms). If Time to first byte isn’t approved, a backend profiling is performed for selected views (see More information).

In-depth analysis and optimizations

If the need for optimizations arises, further in-depth analyses may be required. In these cases, the continued analysis work including proposed actions will be quoted separately.

NOTE. Profiling & Analysis is not a check regarding how much traffic a site can handle. For this, load testing and more extensive efforts are required.

Askås works continuously to optimize general server performance and the platform's basic functionality - but e-commerce consists of a number of additional components. Local settings, front-end design, which modules and components you use, external partners and features.

For this reason, we have developed a standardized package with basic and concise Profiling & Analysis.

Three things to think about

WHEN? In good time before an expected traffic increase. If it gets too close to, for example Black Week, it can be difficult to have time to implement the necessary measures

WHY? To identify bottlenecks and problems and fix simpler deficiencies. The profiling will also show any extensive deficiencies that require more thorough measures.

HOW OFTEN? If features, new design or more external systems have been added to the e-commerce chain, the overall performance can of course be affected. Then it may be worth doing a new profiling to get an updated image.
